Mac menu and shortcuts

Use Cadence from the native macOS menu to add time, open the Timeline, search, change settings, and switch to Mini Mode.

On macOS, Cadence has a native application menu alongside the normal menu-bar controls you expect from a Mac app. It gives you quick access to the actions you use most, even when you are looking at another part of Cadence.

Useful shortcuts

Command-N: open a new time entry.
Command-1: open the Timeline.
Command-F: search Cadence.
Command-,: open Settings.
Command-Shift-M: switch Mini Mode on or off.

The same actions are available from the Cadence, File, and View menus at the top of the screen. If the main window is hidden or minimised, choosing New Time Entry, Open Timeline, Search Cadence, or Settings brings it forward first.

Mini Mode

Mini Mode reduces Cadence to a compact working view when you want tracking controls close by without keeping the full Timeline open. Use Command-Shift-M or choose Mini Mode from the View menu to switch between the two.

Mac only

These application-menu shortcuts are part of the macOS build. Windows users can use the Cadence tray menu for quick access to the app, recent tasks, time entries, Settings, and Mini Mode.

For the normal day-to-day flow after opening the app, continue to a day in Cadence.
