Microsoft Outlook calendar

Show your Outlook or Microsoft 365 meetings as read-only context by publishing its iCal link and pasting it into the desktop app.

Cadence can show your Outlook or Microsoft 365 calendar as read-only context alongside your tracked time. You connect it by copying a calendar link from Outlook and pasting it into Cadence.

Step 1: get your link from Outlook

Do this part on a computer, in a web browser, signed in to Outlook.

  1. Open Outlook on the web
Sign in at outlook.com (personal account) or outlook.office.com (a work or school Microsoft 365 account).
  2. Open your calendar settings
Open the calendar. Click the gear icon (Settings) near the top right, then choose Calendar, then Shared calendars.
  3. Publish your calendar
Under Publish a calendar, choose the calendar you want, set it to Can view all details, and click Publish.
  4. Copy the ICS link
Two links appear. Click the one labelled ICS and copy it. It is a long web address that ends in .ics.

Step 2: paste the link into Cadence

  1. Open Settings in the app
In the Cadence desktop app, click Settings at the bottom of the left sidebar, then open the Integrations tab.
  2. Paste your link in the Calendar box
In the Calendarcard, paste the ICS link into the box that says “Paste a private iCal (ICS) URL from your calendar”.
  3. Click Connect
Click Connect. Your Outlook meetings appear on your timeline as read-only context, stored only on your computer.
If events do not show up
Check the link copied in full and that you chose Can view all details before publishing. Newly published Outlook calendars can take a little while before they first load. See syncing problems if it continues.
